Thai Fried Egg Salad – Yam Khai Dao (ยำไข่ดาว)

Invariably, Yam Khai Dao (ยำไข่ดาว) or Thai fried egg salad is made out of fried chicken or duck eggs. I prefer to use quail eggs. When you use fried chicken or duck eggs, each fried egg needs to be cut into quarters to make it easier to eat. Once the quartered fried eggs are tossed in the dressing along with the other ingredients, the yolks get separated from their whites since they’ve been cut open. It’s not the worst thing in the world, and some people even prefer that since some the integrated yolks get mixed into the dressing which makes the dressing a bit creamier. I don’t.

I like each bite of this salad to be a perfect bite. This means each bite comprises a well-seasoned fried egg — naturally bite-sized — with the creamy yolk and the crispy-tender white together. The only way to achieve this is to use very small eggs so you won’t have to cut them up. Quail eggs are perfect for this.

Aesthetically, this also improves the salad. No messy, disintegrated fried eggs.

The only thing about this salad that takes any effort at all is the frying of the quail eggs. Cracking 24 tiny, tiny eggs can be a pain in the neck.

The frying isn’t that complicated, though. Fill an 8-inch nonstick skillet with about 1/2 cup of oil and put it over medium heat. You can fry 3-4 quail eggs at a time this way.

Thai Fried Egg Salad (Yam Khai Dao ยำไข่ดาว)

2 dozens quail eggs
1/4 medium red onion or 2 large shallots, sliced thinly
Half an English cucumber, peeled and sliced thinly (optional)
2 plum tomatoes, halved then cut into 1/4-inch slices (optional)
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons fish sauce
1 teaspoon palm sugar
2-3 fresh bird’s eye chilies, finely chopped
About 1/2 cup packed cilantro leaves

• Fry the quail eggs until the bottoms are crispy and the whites thoroughly cooked. If you want the yolks cooked, flip the eggs and continue to fry until the tops are just as crispy as the bottoms. Remove the eggs from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate.
• In the meantime, make the dressing by mixing together the lime juice, fish sauce, and chilies.
• Arrange the fried eggs (and, if desired, tomato slices and the cucumber slices) on a serving plate. Strew the red onion slices all over the top.
• Drizzle the dressing all over the eggs. Top with cilantro leaves and serve immediately

A Discourse Approach in reading 

A Discourse Approach in reading. I learned about 

recount, narrative, description, procedure,  comparison and contrast, cause/effect, definition, classification, Exemplification and problem and solving. This subject for me, It was difficult because It has some word I did't know it's mean but I like some contents as  Narrative and procedure. I was fun and happy. This subject has exercise for I done but some exercise was easy some exercise difficult. 

I think this class can be used to read in the future help me to have good skills in reading. Blogging helped me develop writing may be not the best, but I try to improve myself. This course has a room arrangement called at is not the same as other subjects. In the first place may be unfamiliar, but as time passed, we can close with others more

Problem and Solution

 April 20,2015

         I learned about Problem and Solution. The teacher told me about answer Exercise 1. she describe the discause marker and another in this text. I found Problem and Solution and wrote the main idea of the text in A, wrote a title related to the main idea of passage. It has 5. After I did exercise 2, read and answer. Then I watched VDO  about Procedure from another group and presented how to make Spicy salad with fried eggs.           Before I presented, I felt excited after that I was fun because I saw VDO from another group.

Definition and classification

     Teacher taught about definition and classification.Before I studied the 

teacher  told about definition and classification for examples:Phonetics and

Matter.After that,I did exercises by read the text and answer the question that 

follow and complete the diagram. After that teacher taught me about Exemplification. She tole me  about commonly used abbreviations 

and transition in exemplification text. Then I did Text 1 read highlight the 

Exemplification Marker. I did text 2 to Text 4 read in text and flied mean and the answer in the exercise. 

      In this class, I felt fun because I can did exercise and did exercise with my friend.

    

Men and Women

Differences between Men and Women 

       There are many differences between men and women, both in the way we’re designed physically and the way we process things emotionally. And I’m sure you’ve noticed that the way we view relationships is also very different. The main problem in a lot of relationships is women don’t know what men want.
        While the differences may seem vast, they’re pretty simple when you break it down. Once you can understand them, you’ll have a much easier time understanding your guy and making your relationship even more amazing. 
       In general, the appeal of a relationship for a women is the relationship. Women naturally gravitate towards the idea of marriage and see it as highly appealing. An ideal relationship for a woman is one where she feels understood and connected to her significant other.  An ideal man is one who truly understands her.

      The ideal relationship for a man is one where he gets to feel like the man. Men don’t have the same need for understanding as women do. Rather, men like to feel acknowledged, respected, and appreciated. Men typically enjoy the role of being givers, so for a man, the ideal woman is one who can happily receive. There is nothing sexier or more appealing to him than a happy woman who appreciates everything he has to offer.

         While men love to give, they don’t always know what is you need and most relationship problems arise from basic communication malfunctions where a woman goes about trying to tell a man what she needs in the wrong way.

          Remember, he wants to make you happy and the more appreciated he feels, the more he will go out of his way to give you what you want.
It is also worth noting that men respond to specific compliments much more than abstract ones. For instance, saying something like: “Thank you for doing the dishes, that was so thoughtful of you” packs more punch than something general like “You’re so thoughtful.” This can be an area of confusion since women are thrilled with general compliments (you’re so smart/pretty/nice/funny/etc.)
        While the principles I’ve outlined may seem fairly straightforward and universally understood, they often get completely ignored. The biggest mistake most women make in relationships is assuming men think just like they do.
And the key to a successful relationship is communicating your needs in a way that the other person can hear it. If you attack or blame, your guy will completely shut down and tune you out. If you come from a place of compassion and appreciation, he will tune in to exactly what you’re saying and will try to do whatever he can to make you happy.

Comparison and Contrast

   The teacher to find comparison and contrast about men and women:Do they speak the same language?I think now, according to American sociologist Deborah Tannen, there seem to be important differences between the languages of men and women.Next, men and women have problems in conversing with each other because they are raised to see the world in different ways.Because men and women have such different life experiences,they don't speak the same language.

    I thought this exercise is difficult and I must to tried and read very much. and  I should learn vocabulary more and always practice myself.       I felt happy for this lesson because teacher taught well.

Cause and Effect

I studied about a Discourse Approach in Reading with Asst.Prof.Dr.Dr. Usa Noytim.

Teacher taught about Cause and Effect.The teacher said that Cause/Effect is used to show how the facts or concepts result due to other facts,events or concepts.Word that signal this type of text structure are because,since,therefore,if....then,as a result of,thus and hence. After that, the teacher ordered to discuss a partner and did exercise.This lesson I knew about Cause and Effect markers. I did exercise to flied cause and effect, answer in the choice and ordered each sentence.In the afternoon I watched VDO how to make any thing from my friend.

I felt tried because learned both in the morning and in the afternoon but I felt fun because I watched VDO form friends.

Comparison and Contrast

March 3,2015. I have mid- tern test for 1 and a half hour. After that I learned about Comparison and Contrast. Teacher tough me about text 1. In text 1 I found Similarities and Difference between Subway systems of New York/Paris. In text 2,  I found Similarities and Difference between Hurricane Andrew and Hurricane Katrina.
After I did the exercise, I can found similar and difference of text. I fell fun and happy.

 The teacher taught me about Procedure. She told me about Purpose, Type of procedure text, text organisation and Language Features  and I watch video about " How to make a banana shake. She taught me about how to make Chicken soup. Then, she told to ingredient and method and me answer the question about this Chick soup.After that the teacher allow to exercise,exercise 3: read this text and answer the questions that follow.

This exercise I knew main idea,detail and conclusion.

Finally,I watch video about Kylie story forms friends in this class .

 I enjoy to leaned and did exercise.

     I learned about Descriptive the teacher as a group activity.   I had four people for discuss about Comodo Dragon and shared to another group. I did the exercise A and B about Comodo Dragon. After that I learned about Budapest and discuss with my friend in group. 
     When I learned finish, I watched VDO the secrets, I felt happy and I think the exercise  it easy and I knew more about comodo dragon.

Narrative

                       Teacher taught me about narrative continue. Teacher allow to us discuss in the group about the summary part 2 and presented in front of the classroom. After that I did the exercise by put these sentences in the right order to produce a summary of the second past of the story.  After that I discussed in the group about feeling in the story and then we presented. After that I discussed in this group about feeling in the story. Teacher allow to discussed in the group about the story's story symbols that symbols are mean.
         I think this lesson  is a little difficult because some word, I don't know mean but I must more practice

Narrative

                   I learned about narratives. Teacher allow to read  Secrets and then put a cross on line in the circle, at and appropriate point. After that the teacher read the story about secrets. Then teacher allow to us shared idea about this story and explain about sample text about narrative that narrative have difference with recount. After that teacher allow to us to divide in the group. Then each group completed this summary of first part of the story. After that one of all in group have to present in front of the classroom.
                Today, I felt happy and enjoy about teacher's secrets. But sometime I don't know some word and I must more practice.

I  learned to  offset because next Monday teacher had her work. I did the exercise 3 in new group choose the correct answer and answer question. I did exercise 4 with friend. I taught this exercise difficult for me if I unknown some word. But I tried more practice. After that teacher told me write about activity in weekend. 

After that group Representative to present in class. This activity I fell fun and happy.

Recount

            Last monday, In the morning, I studied a Discourse Approach in Reading. Teacher tought me about recount and explained include of recount. I can found who, what, when and where from orientation and found action verb/past tense, linking words and specific participants.

  Course introduction

                           Last Monday. I studied  a discourse approach in reading. Teacher explained course introduction and she taught  me about discourse and discourse marker. In classroom, I did the exercise about  genres of text. 
                              For  me I directions genres  of  text is easy because  I looked   keyword  and discourse marker. 
                             II direction I think  it difficult for me because some words I did't know mean. But I think, I tried to understand and more practice.
                             This lesson  necessary for English education. I should tried to learn and tried to understand because it necessary for me.
